Admittedly I am not the best when it comes to the latest beauty products and techniques that there may be available to women out there. In fact, who has the time to go get preened, plucked, stretched and pummeled because I certainly don’t…or do I?
I have always been *the wierd one*. The one at school who wanted to be a goth but had no idea what colours to put together to make an impact (black and er….?) Since childhood, I had to tame long unruly hair along with wearing thick bottle lens glasses from the age of ten and a mass of freckles on my face. I was called Duracell (copper coloured top) along with other names I won’t mention on here. My fashion sense scaled the dizzy heights of jeans and a nice top. Skirts? ARE YOU KIDDING? My legs wouldn’t know what daylight was if a fish came up and slapped them with another fish.
Okay, a teensy bit of exaggeration. I did get contact lenses at 11 years and battled on until my early twenties when all of a sudden my hair went totally and utterly straight! I became braver with colour and even now, I own a few dresses!!
Going back to having time…I do, but I procrastinate. I say I don’t so much and invent things to do that invariably I go on for months without a hair cut (straight long hair isn’t a problem is it?!) or grooming those fuzzy eyebrows of mine.
Well readers…today is a different day and I decided that I would, for once, stop procrastinating and just get it done!
This is what I looked like this morning. Yes I think I’m brave posting this picture too. My right eyebrow has been messed up so much I have no arch left and am now under strict orders not to mess at all with this one in particular until it grows back…ahem…
I was recommended a place close by to my house that does threading which is a more eastern way of *getting your eyebrows done*. The lady did offer to wax but I wasn’t sure how that would go so stuck to the threading which I’ve had before but not for at least a year or so!
It was fairly quick and painless, my forehead is now smooth and tidy and my eyebrows…well! I’m just not the same person anymore. I would certainly recommend threading to anyone who is thinking about it. It’s actually quite relaxing and your skin gets a bit of a massage too. In truth, I ended up doing a couple of other things (facial) that has left me feeling very good about myself and I am determined to go back in about 4 weeks to keep it all up and feel permanently good about myself…if I have the time!
I must admit, threading always scared the hell out of me and till now i did my own eyebrows, except once when i trusted a lady in the Arndale Market in Manchester who totally made me look like i was permanently surprised about something!
Now, I would love some pampering at some point… I might consider threading now you mentioned it is painless! How about the price?
£6 for the first time as they thread the forehead too and £4 thereafter!! It’s funny as you can feel the hairs being threaded, then they land back on your face :o))
I had my eyebrows threaded & wax, threading is less painful and less anticipation of when the “yank” will be pulled. I think your eyebrows are great, I wish I had more hair on my eyebrows and long enough to be shaped better. It’s true, a great set of eyebrow will help frame the face. I had a friend who recently had hers plucked for the first time last month, the technician just followed the shaped of her natural brow and just cleaned it up, but it really does look better! I think it gave her a bit of positive feedback. Something so small can do a lot of good! Don’t worry, your eyebrows look great, at least more identical than mine =)
Thankyou but you’ll note i didn’t put a pic of the right one lol! It really has no shape but as you say, it’s nice and clean, and fingers crossed the arch grows back one day!!
